GOOSE CREEK, SC – Seven people were injured, including children from the ages of 5 to 13, when a train and a pickup truck collided in Goose Creek last night.
According to WCBD, the collision occurred at US-52 and Red Bank Road at 10:35 p.m. January 9, 2021, when the driver of a GMC Sierra reportedly attempted to drive around the safety arms of a railroad crossing.
The vehicle and an Amtrak train collided, causing three people to be ejected during the accident.
Two women and five children between the ages of 5 and 13 were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Two of the children sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident. The other five victims are expected to survive their injuries.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
