COLUMBIA, SC – 90-year-old Stitt Wolfe has died after being hit crossing a street in southeast Columbia Monday afternoon, reports The State.
According to authorities, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on February 15th near the intersection of Leesburg Road and Patterson Road. Wolfe had been trying to cross Leesburg Road when he was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet. First responders transported Wolfe to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Chevrolet had been wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries.
There is no information yet on whether the driver will face criminal charges.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
