ORANGEBURG CO., SC – A pedestrian has died after being hit by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning, reports WIS 10.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 5:00 AM on February 23rd. The pedestrian was hit by a 2003 Chevy while walking east in the 2600 block of St. Matthews Road.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. Sadly, they later succumbed to their injuries while in the hospital.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the victim.
There is no information yet as to whether the driver will face criminal charges. South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
