HORRY CO., SC – One person has died and another has sustained serious injuries after two motorcycles collided with an SUV Wednesday afternoon, reports WMBF.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident took place on S.C. 707 around 3:00 PM on February 24th. Two motorcyclists, one riding a 2011 Kawasaki and the other a 2017 Suzuki, were driving northbound on S.C. 707 near a Lowes Food Mart in Murrells Inlet when a 2013 Lincoln SUV attempted to turn onto the highway from a private road. The two motorcycles subsequently crashed into the side of the SUV.
The driver of the 2011 Kawasaki was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the 2017 Suzuki was immediately transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition. Their identities have not yet been released.
The driver of the SUV had been wearing a seatbelt and suffered no injuries.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
