HORRY CO., SC – The motorcyclist killed in Wednesday’s three-vehicle crash has been identified as Horry County Sheriff’s Officer Richard DeJesus, reports ABC 15.
The accident previously reported on by Evans Moore, LLC took place on February 24th and involved two motorcycles and an SUV. The two motorcycles had been traveling north on S.C. 707 when they struck an SUV that was attempting to cross the highway.
Officer DeJesus succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The second motorcyclist was severely injured and immediately transported to a local hospital. There is no update yet on their condition.
The driver of the SUV had been wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, they have been charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
