BONNEAU, SC – The coroner’s office has identified the woman killed in Tuesday’s crash involving a Berkeley County K9 unit, previously reported on by Evans Moore, LLC.
According to WCSC, 73-year-old Julia Georgiadis was the driver of the 1984 Toyota pickup truck who died at the scene of the accident. The collision occurred on February 23rd after Georgiadis attempted to turn left onto U.S. 52 and crashed into the deputy’s car, a 2019 Chevy Tahoe.
The Chevy Tahoe caught fire upon impact, and bystanders helped to free the deputy and the K9. The deputy was transported to Trident Medical Center and the K9 was transported to an emergency veterinarian. Both suffered only minor injuries and are in stable condition.
