YORK CO., SC – S.C. 5 was shut down Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision left one driver dead.
The Herald reports that the accident occurred on S.C. 5 near Cureton Ferry Road around 2:30 PM on March 8th. The car drove into the oncoming traffic lane that the dump truck had been traveling in, and the two vehicles subsequently collided. Both vehicles caught fire on impact of the crash.
The driver of the car died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.
The York County Coroner has yet to identify the deceased.
