COLUMBIA, SC – One person has died after a fatal two-vehicle collision Thursday morning, and a trucker has now been charged with fleeing the scene of the accident.
WLTX reports that the accident took place on Langford Road in Blythewood at around 7:00 AM on March 18th. The driver of a 2005 tractor trailer attempted to make a U-turn and struck a 2001 Dodge truck in the process.
The driver of the Dodge was severely injured and transported to the hospital where they sadly succumbed to their injuries. The coroner’s office has not yet released their identity.
The driver of the tractor trailer-fled the scene, but was detained by police shortly afterwards. The trucker has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
