RIDGELAND, SC – Three people were killed in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 17 Thursday morning, reports WSAV.
According to the Ridgeland Police Department, the accident took place at the intersection of Smith Crossing Road and Highway 17 at around 7:30 AM on March 25th. A pickup truck pulling a trailer had been traveling north on Highway 17 when it crossed over the center line and struck two cars traveling in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the first vehicle struck was transported to the hospital. Their current condition remains unknown.
There were four people in the second struck vehicle. Two died at the scene of the accident. A third person died at a local hospital. The fourth person remains in treatment.
The coroner’s office has yet to identify any victims.
The Ridgeland Police Department continues to investigate the accident. Charges are reportedly pending.
