HORRY COUNTY, SC – The pilot of a small plane was killed after the craft crashed into a field in Horry County on Friday night, according to WMBF News.
The plane went down in the 3800 block of Socastee Boulevard, near Highway 17, at about 6:15 p.m. on May 21.
The crash occurred as the pilot of a twin-engine Pipe PA-31 plane was attempting to return to the airport in Myrtle Beach.
The pilot, 60-year-old James Marklin Harper, of North Myrtle Beach, died in the crash. He was the only one aboard the plane at the time.
The accident remains under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
