ORANGEBURG CO., SC – 42-year-old Lee Grant Moody has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that killed one person and injured another Monday morning, reports WLTX.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place on Big Buck Boulevard near Bethel Forest Road around 7:50 AM on July 12th. Moody had been driving a 2021 U-Haul truck east in the westbound lane when he collided head-on with a 2014 Honda Accord.
The Honda’s driver and two passengers had all been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. One passenger unfortunately died at the scene. The coroner’s office has yet to identify the victim. The other passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Moody fled the scene on foot, but was later apprehended by law enforcement. He has been charged with hit and run involving death and hit and run involving great bodily harm.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal accident.
