FLORENCE, SC – I-95 was closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to extinguish a vehicle that caught fire Monday morning, reports CBS 17.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the vehicle caught fire on I-95 southbound near mile marker 157 around 8:16 AM on March 1st. The fire had already reached considerable size, and black smoke could be seen along much of I-95. There is currently no information on whether the driver of the vehicle sustained any injuries as a result of the fire.
Authorities asked local drivers to avoid the area as they worked to extinguish the fire. All lanes of I-95 southbound have since reopened.
