James B. Moore JR
James B. Moore, Jr. (Jimmy) is a Georgetown County native having lived in Andrews, Pawleys Island and Georgetown. Jimmy graduated from The Citadel in 1970 with a BS degree in Business Administration. Following his graduation from The Citadel he attended The University of South Carolina School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1973. Jimmy was admitted to practice in South Carolina in November of 1973. In 1980, Jimmy was accepted into the prestigious New York University School of Law graduate tax program where he received his LLM degree in taxation in 1981.
After serving in The United States Air Force, Jimmy joined the Georgetown law firm of Moore Flowers and Doar where he spent fifteen years as a partner. In 1987, he joined Governor Robert McNair’s law firm where he practiced as a shareholder in its Georgetown, Myrtle Beach and Charleston offices for thirty-two years until its merger into The Burr Forman & McNair Law Firm. Jimmy became counsel to The Burr Forman & McNair Law Firm in its Charleston office. Upon leaving Burr Forman & McNair, Jimmy joined Evans Moore Law Firm again returning to Georgetown County.
Jimmy is an experienced lawyer that has handled all types of real estate matters, estate planning, probate, corporate and business related matters. In the real estate area, his practice has included nearly every aspect of real estate law. Jimmy has done both commercial and residential real estate transactions throughout South Carolina. His practice has included the documentation for planned communities, multi-family developments and shopping centers. He has handled numerous borrowing transactions in the real estate finance area running in size from hundreds of millions of dollars to the smallest residential loans. He has prepared the documentation for numerous multi-family projects throughout the low country of South Carolina. He has registered numerous interval ownership developments. Jimmy continues to represent homeowner associations on documentation and corporate matters. In addition to his real estate practice, Jimmy has drafted many estate plans for individuals living in South Carolina.
Jimmy is an active member of The American Bar Association, The South Carolina Bar Association and The Georgetown County Bar Association where he is a former President.
In addition to being admitted to practice in all South Carolina Courts, Jimmy is admitted to practice in all Federal Courts, including The United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and The United States Supreme Court.
Jimmy is a former member of The Super Lawyers list and has been named by his peers to the list of The Best Lawyers in America for over twenty years. In 2019 he was named by The Best Lawyers in America as the Best Real Estate Lawyer of the Year for the Grand Strand.
Jimmy is a former director of The South Carolina Ports Authority and is currently a director of The Coastal Educational Foundation at Coastal Carolina University.
